World of Deathknight?

Arthas “Head Honcho DeathKnight”

Well, the first thing I did on my new Beta account was roll a new Death Knight.

After playing through the “campaign questline” Blizzard designed exclusively for the Death Knights and doing my favorite quest lines in the game (the Western Plagueland Cauldron Quests), I was about 9 bars from level 60, so I decided to go to the outlands.

Here I planned to grind some of the mobs in Legion Front. They provide very quick exp, they are “easy” to kill and will help me finish off my level. After level 60 I would proceed to doing my Outlands Quest cycles.

The DK class, is simply overpowered. My whole time grinding, I did not drop below 90% health. I was not being conservative either. I’m spec’d Unholy, which is a decently high damage spec. I burned through mobs quickly in about 4-5ish hits. Not dropping below 90% health once. No downtime at all.

I told myself as I was actually “creating” the character:

“I will roll one now because I know everyone on my blog is DYING to hear about them, but when it comes to retail.  EVERYONE will be playing them… so will I stick with one of my other characters… No Way Jose!“

I know this sounds a little dramatic, but what do you think about the death knight having the potential to literally taking over the game? Will your current characters just collect dust because they will be of no use?

Even though I’m pretty stubborn and I stick to my word.. I have totally changed my mind. Tons of people will be playing this class, and they SHOULD. It’s a very fun class with a very new feel to it.

Right now it’s just simply over powered. On the beta we are able to run 5man DK groups. Which is kind of scary.  I thought the reason for implementing this character was to eliminate the “need” for player roles, such as warriors, since every group needs one.

But with a large band wagon of players jumping to play the Deathknight, what if the class became the game? Why pick up a hunter for a group, when you can add another DK? Why use a priest, when DK’s can virtually keep themselves alive?

However, I know for a fact I will be rolling a Death Knight of my own when it comes to retail.

Hey Fool you better create a DK or else!

Getting fucked in the ass by EA

Electronic Arts

On monday I wanted to give Danielle a surprise by giving her the SPORE Creature Creator as a welcome back home gift.
So I go to the EA Store, and order the game through their new Direct Download service.  According to them, I could buy the game and when its released they shoot me an email and I download it… So I said, alrighty lets do that and she will have it this afternoon.

Right?

No.  The game got pushed for June 18 (the next day), but that is fine… A day won’t hurt.  Well Today is June 19.  I still have not been able to download the game.  This is what I get for being Honest! I should have just grabbed the copy in The Pirate Bay or at Demonoid.  But no, I had to do the right thing, and bought it.  Bah.

I shot a support email to the helpful EA staff and this is their response:

Hello Badr!

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support. I do apologize for the inconvenience you’re having with Spore Creature Creator.

There is an ongoing issue with the EA Download Manager version of this game, as it seems that the game is not yet showing up even though the game has already been released today. We are aware of this issue and currently looking into this issue for a solution. We do not have an estimate time when it will be resolved, so in case the game doesn’t show up, I would suggest to try logging to your account at a later time. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience this issue caused.

I have tried to cancel my order, but the EA Store wont let me.  EA says in their policy they don’t refund games purchased as Direct Downloads from their store.  I don’t even have the key to the game.  So its a sit and wait for me to deposit my $9.95 of the Creature Creator, from their poor bank account.  I have already made my miind that I lost 10 bucks.  I also went ahead and bought the game for Danielle at Gameshit (er stop).

Reviews of Grand Theft Auto 4

Grand theft auto IV
Carjack a vehicle and call your favorite escort, it’s time for the GTA IV reviews to start flowing in. The embargo on non “exclusive reviews” is over and media outlets are chiming in with initially glowing reviews. Here are some of the first reviews I’ve seen that are my favorites:

IGN 100: “I could go on and on about why Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the best games we’ve ever seen and why even folks who are easily offended should play it, but that would be pointless. The only thing you need to know is that you have to play this game. Period.”

GameInformer (100/100): “There so much more to appreciate about this game. Its dynamic mission structuring, remarkable sound design, wealth of side content, amazing animation, the list goes on and on. Long story short, I never thought I would see this much content in a game. Grand Theft Auto IV doesn’t just raise the bar for the storied franchise; it completely changes the landscape of gaming. Once you play it, you won’t look at video games the same way again.”

GameDaily (100/100): “Finally, the wait for a true GTA multiplayer experience was well worth it, and the online game modes (mostly variations on deathmatches, car races, car races and self-contained co-op missions) add a lot of value to an already jam-packed game. Multiplayer is not as integral part of the game as it was to, say, Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4, but the ability to play over the entire city map is brilliant. Online matches are accessed right from the game via the call phone, and we’ll have a more in-depth take on the game’s multiplayer offerings once the game is released and the servers are fully populated.”

GameTrailers (98/100): “Grand Theft Auto IV is the sex, drugs, and rock and roll of video games. It’s a little less brave and intimidating this time around, but it’s also the most refined and polished game in the franchise’s history. This kind of sheen is generally reserved for titles with a much smaller scope. It’s been one of the marquis games in the industry for years and the addition of a killer multiplayer component puts it over the top. Few games manage to deliver on the hype, but this is one that does.”

Eurogamer (100/100): “GTA IV is the 10/10 you were expecting. Almost everything you do in Liberty City would be good enough to drive its own game, and the best parts would be good enough to outrun the competition, but the reason it works so well is that Rockstar has made a game that requires no patience to play. This, as much as its usual coherency and the best script in the series, is what makes GTA IV the best openworld game yet, and why it will take something miraculous to rob it of game of the year status.”

Gamespy (100/100): “To be totally honest, it would be very easy to write another 2000-odd words on this game, as we haven’t even delved into the hours of television you can watch, the amazingly detailed virtual Internet, the strip clubs that you can visit, the ultra-realistic vehicle physics, and so on. Suffice it to say that Grand Theft Auto IV is a game that could keep anyone busy for a long, long time. Although its got plenty of excellent features, it’s ultimately the storytelling that makes it an instant classic, a game unlike any we’ve played before. As is the case with many great books and movies, you’ll want to know what happens to the characters after the game ends, and one can’t help hoping that all of their American Dreams comes true.”
