So many companies with lack of plan b in case shit happened

Its surprising how many institutions, businesses and corporations are not even ready for a disaster plan that includes the loss of their main backup systems.

The institution I work for, one of the largest hospital for children in the east coast, suffered a virus attach this week with Marioforever.exe and acl.exe brought in by a trojan Backdoor.Zapinit, was a week long ordeal because networking dept had no idea how to solve this. Even the resolution “meetings” they had demonstrated no one in that department actually knew what was going on and how to really implement a solution to solve the problem. Instead from the head of the IT Dept to the different managers and networking support, helpdesk and Server Administration showed a huge loophole in how they responded to an emergency such as this one.

Sure, everyone has different solutions on how to approach something like this, and there are different considerations to take place. But frankly a week is enough to contain a situation and right now we don’t know if the Trojan is contained or the resolution solved. Worst of all how can you find proper solutions when all the managers are running around with their hands up in circles panicking like little girls and threatening their own staff that if they do something different to what crappy implementations they have they will be let go.

Fuck that. I created a registry key, that eliminates further reproduction of the Backdoor.Zapinit. Instead of sitting down and analizing what I did, with joe schmoe who clearly doesn’t understand how this works, my script should have been brought to the attention of the networking department so they create a policy using my code to remove the entries Backdoor.Zapinit creates in the registry and makes it impossible for the virus, once removed the strain to dial home and bring another strain in.

But no. Instead I get threatened that I will be let go if I use my solution.

Fuck you and fuck that… that is what I have to say.
